Winchester + Cath Kidston = Happiness Update

I have some fantastic news! I'm very happy to tell you all that the Winchester store opens on the 2nd of July and the store is having and opening party on the 4th! This information has very kindly been provided by Laura at the Cath team and very helpful she was too. I wish I could go to the party, but we are going to see Take That at Wembley Stadium on the 4th!

What Is Your Name's Hidden Meaning?

I found a link on Florence and Mary's old blog Vintage Tea and I thought it would be fun to do when I should be working. Of course it is a little silly, but very fun and some of it is actually spot on!

Morwenna You Are Powerful and Determined

You are confident, self assured, and capable.
You are not easily intimidated.
You master any and all skills easily.
You don't have to work hard for what you want.
You make your life out to be exactly how you want it and you'll knock down anyone who gets in your way!

You are well rounded, with a complete perspective on life.
You are solid and dependable.
You are loyal, and people can count on you.
At times, you can be a bit too serious.
You tend to put too much pressure on yourself.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel.
You're always up to something.
You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you.
You're very intense.
You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble, but your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

You are very charming, dangerously so.
You have the potential to break a lot of hearts.
You know what you want, how to get it, and that you will get it.
You have the power to rule the world, let's hope you're a benevolent dictator!

You are friendly, charming, and warm.
You get along with almost everyone.
You work hard not to rock the boat.
Your easy going attitude brings people together.
At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible.
But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are very intuitive and wise.
You understand the world better than most people.
You also have a very active imagination.
You often get carried away with your thoughts.
You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy.
You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You are usually the best at everything, you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic "Type A" personality.

Patience Is A Virtue

I was informed by Nat Mags that I had to renew my annual subscription to Country Living after it ran out in May. I did it as soon as I received the letter about four weeks ago and all was fine until...I was browsing through some other lovely magazines in Waitrose when I noticed that they had the July issue CL on sale and mine hadn’t yet arrived. I rang the subscription department and they told me that they had to delay my July issue due to popular demand during the interim from my subscription ending and the new one beginning! So after a week and a half of waiting it finally arrived yesterday. I made myself a cup of tea and some scotch pancakes for supper and sat down to read it from cover to cover and as always it was fabulous.

Yippee It Is Summer Sale Time!

Perhaps I am a little too excited about the glory of the Cath Kidston sale?! Especially as I have exhausted all funds this month and will have to wait until next week. Happy sale hunting to all of you in search of a beautiful bargain or two!

Giant Pumpkin & Mint

The giant pumpkin needs to be transferred to a mammoth pot, but until we find one on the weekend it is in the little terracotta pot.

The peppermint is in an old Le Creuset cast iron casserole dish that I picked up at the rubbish tip for £1!

Herb Garden

These are the usual suspects:
Parsley
Sage
Rosemary
Thyme (cue Simon and Garfunkel!)
Basil
Chives
Coriander
Peppermint in a separate pot

Vegetable Garden Part 5

Vegetable Garden Part 4

Vegetable Garden Part 3

Vegetable Garden Part 2

This is our vegetable garden full of gorgeousness! We have cheated for this year and we have planted established seedlings rather than seeds, but it is a start to living the good life!

We have planted…

Winchester + Cath Kidston = Happiness!

My oh my there will be Cath Kidston shop a mere 35 miles away from me!!! I am having heart palpitations already! The Cath shop is opening in Winchester in July and I am beyond excited. I often visit Winchester because my sister lives there as that is where she goes to university, so now I can combine two of my great loves in one trip.

For those of you who would like to know the location it will be in the old book shop opposite the L.K. Bennett shop.

Saying Thanks With A Bow On

I packed the slab of brownies (minus one, oops!) into a kilner jar that I lined with a polka dot napkin and tied a ribbon around the lid. I used a label from my beautiful Cath Kidston labels and stickers set and then Nathan delivered it.

It is such a lovely feeling to give a gift of thanks that is handmade with love and thought rather than spending cash on something that is undoubtedly lovely, but ultimately is not made with love. Saying that I would never turn down a gift just because it is not handmade!

Saying Thank You

We had a holiday the week before last which we spent at home and travelling around on adventures to Corfe Castle, Sandbanks and Brighton to save money (although I believe this to be a false economy as my bank account is now looking very poorly indeed! This could be down to the splurge in the Cath Kidston shop in Brighton?!). To make the most of the glorious weather a friend of ours lent us their convertible. To say thank you I made him and his partner some chocolate brownies studded with white chocolate chunks. I think one of the slices may have accidentally jumped into my mouth...I found this recipe on Jamie Oliver's site (for any foodies out there this site is a must) http://www.jamieoliver.com/ . The authors name is Dawn (aka Country Girl and her blog is May All Seasons Be Sweet To Thee) and she is lovely and has some very yummy recipes. Here is a link to her brownie recipe
Enjoy!

Cheerful Sweet Williams

Seeing your loved ones, being by the sea, being with your pets, freshly baked anything, waking up to sunshine pouring through your curtains and fresh flowers, they all have the same effect on me…pure joy and happiness! Sometimes when the other joyful things in life are not available you can always rely upon these little beauties to cheer you up and feed your soul. This week’s delights are sweet Williams and they are absolutely beautiful. They are in also my pretty fluted lip (that is hidden underneath the foliage) vase that I bought from a charity shop for £1!

One Year Today I Will Be Married!

Oh my goodness butterflies are bumping into each other in my tummy! A year today I will be married to my childhood sweetheart Nathan. Right now we will be drinking pimms in the garden (weather permitting, if not it will be inside the marquee!) and we will be Mr and Mrs. Hill. Currently my name is Morwenna Ellis-Philips, so the short surname will take some getting used to!

I am so excited, nervous, anxious and emotional about the next year ahead and the big day itself. Eek! I know that I will be able to organise everything, it is just bringing it altogether! I just cannot wait to be married to the love of my life and to know that we will always be with each other for the rest of our lives.

Welcome To My World

Whilst looking for some fabric I stumbled across a blog and I became instantly inspired by all of the fantastic bloggers out there. So much so that I wanted start my own, so here goes! My name is Morwenna and I am 26 and I live in the Beautiful New Forest with my fiancé and our two cats Millie and Sylvester. We are very lucky to live in such a wonderful area as we have the forest, fields and the sea all surrounding our house.
We are getting married on Saturday 12th June 2010. Our reception theme is traditional English afternoon tea party and we are collecting vintage china tea sets for each table. We have had so much fun doing this that we have started collecting vintage and shabby chic ceramics, linens and furniture for our house and we are hooked! I am obsessed with all things shabby chic, floral, Cath Kidston, thrifty finds, T.G.Green Cornishware, wicker, food, Country Living magazine, cooking, travelling and the great outdoors!
Thanks for dropping by xxx
